A group of anonymous painters in Paris in 1874 organized a movement, Impressionism. Claude Monet was one of the main founders of this movement. The independent artists, despite their diverse approaches to painting, appeared to contemporaries as a group (Impressionism). At the time canvases were very light colored and there was not a lot of technique and very bright colors
